Department of Bioorganic mechanisms

The main directions of scientific researches in the department are investigations of mechanisms of bioorganic reactions and bioactivities of natural and synthetic compounds, and also an establishment of correlations between the structure and properties of designed compounds in model chemical and biochemical systems. Researches which are carried out recently are devoted to study of transformations of some vitamins, coenzymes and their structural analogues, research of properties of possible antioxidants, research of new spin probes in model systems, construction and studying of synthetic enzyme inhibitors and computational modellings of bioactivity. Several therapeutically important enzymes are used as possible targets in vitro including acid phosphatases, alkaline phosphatases, protein tyrosine phosphatases, nucleotide pyrophosphatase/phosphodiesterases, glutathione S-transferases, lipoxygenases and xanthine oxidase. Some researches are carried out in scientific cooperation with other scientific groups at the Institute and with laboratories from other Institutes of NAS of Ukraine. We are ready also for new collaboration.
